Bignona, Oct 2 (APS) – The bodies of the 4 people whose canoe capsized Monday in Bignona in the bolongs (channel), following heavy rains, have been found, a security source reported to APS on Wednesday.
“A canoe with four people on board capsized at the beginning of the week in the bolong following the heavy rains which fell in the Buluf region. The bodies of its occupants have all been found,” she said.
Witnesses report seeing a canoe in the middle of the waves without its occupants. They then raised the alert in the village of Dianki and its surroundings.
Seized in turn, the Bignona firefighters and the agents of the Thiobon Marine Protected Areas moved to the area to begin research.
The bodies of three children were initially found on Tuesday, then transferred to the morgue of the Thionck-Essyl health district.
A fourth body, that of an adult, was discovered this Wednesday by firefighters.
Witnesses report that a father went shrimp fishing early Monday morning with his children and nephews.
Only four of them, including the father, boarded the canoe, leaving the other two at the dock.
These four occupants were reportedly surprised by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
