Listed companies: A global RNPG impacted by the Maroc Telecom-Inwi standoff

The overall turnover of the Casablanca coast increased by 4.3% for the first half of 2024, to reach 151.3 billion DH, according to BMCE Capital Global Research (BKGR).

In his “Earning H1 2024”, the analyst underlines that this performance is particularly explained by the continued dynamism of financial companies which recorded overall revenues of 46.5 billion DH (+12.8%), unlike industrial ones. which are standing still with a turnover that is almost stagnant (94.5 billion DH, or +0.6%). In total, the operating profit of these listed companies stood at 39.2 billion DH, a slight decline of -0.2% year-on-year, due to a provision of more than 6 billion DH of Maroc Telecom as part of its dispute with Inwi (4.1 billion DH in net).

Analysis of the results of listed companies thus shows a -2.6% drop in their profit capacity, to 16.9 billion DH. Without the impact of this provision from the historic telecoms operator, profits recorded growth of 20.9% to 20.92 billion DH, notes BKGR.
