Opponents of the uniform financing project for ambulatory and inpatient health services (Efas) launched their campaign on Tuesday with a view to the vote on November 24. According to them, the modification would cause a further increase in premiums.

The inclusion of long-term care, where expenses are increasing sharply due to the aging of society, would lead to a further increase in premiums, argued the Swiss Trade Union Union (USS), the Swiss Union of Public Services (SSP), the Unia union as well as representatives of the Vert-es and the PS.

Opponents also fear that with this reform the cantons will abandon responsibility for EMS or Spitex care (i.e. care and advice provided at home). They would then pay 13 billion francs in taxes directly to the health funds.

The reform would also increase pressure on healthcare workers, according to the USS and its allies.
