The manager of the French U18 team Stéphane Cambos decided to take the lead, by filing a complaint against the FFR for slanderous denunciation.
It was in an interview given to our colleagues from Sud Ouest that Arnaud Dupin, the lawyer for Stéphane Cambos, the manager of the France U18 team, revealed the counterattack they are preparing. “It is not up to the president of the FFR to do justice”he announces: “Today, we are sacrificing a man, nailing him to the pillory, we are overwhelming him with all the evils. We note that Florian Grill, the president of the FFR, recalled during his trip to Argentina this was a fundamental principle of our law which is the presumption of innocence. Obviously, here, concerning Stéphane Cambos, he forgot it.
Stéphane Cambos would have been told: “You are too careful”
As a reminder, following the disappearance of Medhi Narjissi at Dias Beach in South Africa, the federation launched an internal investigation to try to find out more about the organization and therefore the responsibility for this tragic event. “In its report, the FFR questions the conditions of organization of this session while indicating that Stéphane Cambos was aware of the dangers of Dias Beachexpresses the lawyer, still in South West. This amounts to designating him responsible for the disappearance of Medhi Narjissi. It’s called an execution.”
Security issues are the responsibility of the DTN
In a more technical way, Me Dupin details how his client was chosen for this tour of South Africa: “Stéphane Cambos, to whom we give the title of “manager of the French U18 team”was notified the day before or two days before of his appointment and his departure for South Africa. This without the slightest mission letter which frames his functions. He later discovered the existence of a mission order which was not submitted for his signature and in which it is written that security issues are the responsibility of his superior, the DTN.”
Finally, on the details of what happened, the lawyer indicates that “the program for this tour is produced by the federation with the tour operator”. The idea was put forward to organize a recovery session in the water, which should have taken place “at the end of the excursion at the hotel”. “It would have been said to Stéphane Cambos, given his reluctance: “You’re too careful.” A point on which the report does not dwell: Stéphane Cambos and Robin Ladauge, the physical trainer, are at the same hierarchical level. They are both national technical executives, and have no hierarchical dependence on each other. If the preparer has decided, and it is the criminal investigation which will have to determine this, to take latitudes with the established program, it is his responsibility.
