Extension of the Maritime Promenade of Casablanca, the inhabitants of the El Hank neighborhood delighted

The Casablanca Maritime Promenade on the Corniche is expanding. On the side of the El Hank Lighthouse, where a large shantytown known as the “Center” was once located, the inhabitants are delighted to see that this space left abandoned for a long time and suffering from a lack increased maintenance has had a makeover.

«This is a very nice initiative. Here, where we are, the scene was desolate, garbage and waste littering the ground. But now with this redevelopment, these sports and recreational facilities for children, we are very satisfied and happy to finally be able to benefit from them», declares this resident of the El Hank district.

The redevelopment of this area is part of the maritime promenade extension project which begins at the Hassan II Mosque and extends to the Morocco Mall.

«This place, before there was the shanty town which was recently razed, was called “center” by its inhabitants. This redevelopment was really necessary and saving», Says another local resident.

As a reminder, the Ain Diab corniche redevelopment project mobilizes investments of 100 million dirhams excluding roads and parking lots. It consists of enhancing the promenade on Boulevard de la Corniche.
