Find out when the best time to see fall colors is, depending on your region.

The best time to observe fall leaves varies depending on the sector of Quebec. In some places, the colors are already at their peak at the end of September. Rest assured, the majority of sectors have not yet reached this stage and even if this period does not last long, you still have time to take advantage of it.

Colors according to region

Moreover, for the majority of regions, coloring is only just beginning. This is the case in the Saint-Laurent valley, the Basses-Laurentides, Centre-du-Québec, Outaouais and Abitibi, in particular.

For the sectors located in Hautes-Laurentides, Haute-Mauricie and Monts-Valin, coloring is currently in the middle of its process. In the St. Lawrence Valley, if you want to observe the leaves when they are at their peak of color, you will have to wait until mid-October.

As of this writing, the leaves have reached their peak in two parks in the province. These are the Mont-Mégantic National Park, in Estrie, and the Massif du Sud Park, in Chaudière-Appalaches. If you are in the area, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to observe this fall spectacle.

A good weekend to enjoy the outdoors?

This weekend, although it will be dotted with some precipitation, is a good time to do outdoor activities and observe the fall colors.

This Saturday, the sky will be generally clear, especially for areas from the west to the south. “There will be a few cloudy periods, but it will be a generally beautiful day for most areas,” notes Kevin Cloutier, meteorologist.
