A precautionary measure

According to the first elements transmitted in this email, these are security issues in the two main buildings of the high school which pushed Jean-Marc Jaffré to make this decision to ensure the safety of the students. Information confirmed since then by the head of the establishmentFénelon institution.

“Following the safety commission in April 2024, we were asked to check the structural condition of our oldest buildings. As a precaution, upon notification of the safety commissionwe had already condemned the parts of the buildings which were the subject of concerns,” explains Jean-Marc Jaffré to the families.

A situation which was turned upside down by the new expert report received on Friday September 27, 2024.

Quickly find solutions

For the moment, the nature of the defects noted on these buildings is not known. While waiting for possible repairs to be scheduled, the high school teams are giving themselves three days, until Wednesday October 2, 2024, to establish a provisional battle plan to reorganize “courses, the canteen and timetables”.

Until then, Notre-Dame will try to maintain educational continuity, “as much as possible”, but the high school gates will indeed remain closed.
