LPope Francis arrives in Belgium after a annus horribilis for the local Church. Who would have believed it twelve months ago? On September 3, 2023, Luc Terlinden was consecrated Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels. With this new man at its head, aged only 54, the institution seemed able to change eras, to leave behind the dark years of sexual abuse within it. But nothing happened as planned.
