Musical meetings of Clermont de l’Oise: here we go for a 10th edition

The Duo Antares performed at the EHPAD of the Clermont General Hospital on Thursday, September 19.

Already ten years. The Musical meetings of Clermont de l’Oise are back for a 10th edition, from September 14 to October 13. This classical music festival aims to bring the greatest names in classical music within everyone’s reach. As in previous years, the festival reaches both the general public and “impeded” audiences (people who cannot necessarily travel).

“Excellence for all”

“The very essence of the festival is excellence for all,” explains Cecile Grangedeputy mayor of Clermont and also organizer of the festival. The idea is to bring beautiful music to everyone, with big names who play internationally and who come to perform in Clermont.” The concert for the elderly on Thursday, September 19 proves it. On the program: the Italian violin duo, Duo Antares, performed at the EHPAD of the General Hospital of Clermont. “We both attended the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse in ,” confides Ruggero Capranico, one of the musicians. “It was the Conservatoire that propelled us towards festivals, including the one in Clermont.”

The duo offers music adapted to the audience. “For the general public, we play classical music, but at the EHPAD for example, we play tango, waltz… things that can remind them of memories and awaken memories. They don’t necessarily have the possibility of leaving here to go to the concert so we come to them. We like it a lot and it works very well. That’s the goal of music too, it’s sharing.” Ruggero Capranico also talks about the power of music: “For certain pathologies, music is powerful and its effectiveness on patients is recognized.” Juliette Meurou, 91, was in the audience that day. “I don’t necessarily know classical music,” she explains. “It wasn’t necessarily from my time. The concert also allows you to meet good friends. This is the third year I’ve been coming.”

About forty elderly people were present for the concert.
The Duo Anatares is composed of violinists Dania Draga and Ruggero Capranico.

A festival for all audiences

After the concert for the elderly of the EHPAD of the General Hospital of Clermont, the next concert date for the “prevented” audiences will take place on September 24 for the multi-handicapped residents of the Cesap of Clermont. A masterclass is also organized for the students of percussion classes of the music schools and conservatories of the department of Oise. The students will be invited at 5 p.m. on October 12 to the Saint-Samson church, to meet the Trio SR9. An explanatory pre-concert will be dedicated to them; the students will prepare in advance some short pieces that they will be able to play with the Trio. The Clermontois music school and several other music schools and conservatories of Oise will participate in this afternoon which will be followed by a snack-meeting between the young people and the musicians, before the concert at 8:30 p.m.
