There will be a 100% Haute-Garonne stageon the next Tour de France. This is information from France Bleu Occitanie: on July 17, 2025, the riders will connect Muret and Superbagnères, with a high-altitude finish in the Pyrenees ski resort, above Bagnères-de-Luchon. The day before and the day before that, the Tour caravan will have set down its suitcases in Toulouse for a day of rest and departure.
Muret, it’s starting to become a habit for the Tour de France. It will even be the third time in ten years, and as previously (in 2015 and 2021), a start. The village will be set up in Jean-Jaurès Park, and the starting line will be drawn on the Allées Niel.
Then, heading for the Pyrenees, and to spice things up before Superbagnères, several choices are possible. If the riders do not go beyond the borders of Haute-Garonne, they will most certainly pass through the Col de Menté. But if there were to be a small detour through the Hautes-Pyrénées, it could be through the Barousse valley and the Port de Balès. Or otherwise through Spain: the Col du Portillon via the Val d’Aran, before climbing towards Superbagnères.
Everything will also depend on the degree of difficulty desired by the organizers to begin this week in the Pyrenees.
Superbagnères back 36 years later
As anticipated by France Bleu Occitanie From May 29, 2024, Superbagnères will make its return to the Tour after 36 years of absence. The last time for the Tour was 1989, with the duel between Laurent Fignon and Greg Lemond.
