Unusual heritage…
To rediscover the history of the Moselle in a different way, an immersion is possible by going down to more than 1200 meters underground, by going to the Parc Explor Wendel, in Petite Rosselle. For 1 hour 15 minutes, visitors will be able to learn all about the mining sites. 3 out of 5 sites are accessible to the public. Visitors will also be entitled to a salty break, at the museum’s KaffeeKlatsch.
The convent of Saint-Jean-de-Bassel is another unusual place to experience the heritage days. On the program, a visit to the convent, workshops for young and old. It is possible to learn how to make handmade paper, create marbled papers, make your own sourdough bread. The little ones will be able to listen to stories, put on make-up, discover an educational farm or attend traveling shows. The older ones will be able to try an escape game.
…to the essentials
The Robert Schuman House will also open its doors for the occasion. Visitors will have the choice of visiting the premises freely with or without a digital tablet, which provides commentary on the visit.
On the Moselle border, it is also possible to visit the Ansembourg castle, in Helperknapp, in Luxembourg. See you on September 28 and 29. On the program, guided tours of the site, artistic workshops and games for children, choreographies in the castle garden.
Promoting artisanal know-how
European Heritage Day does not necessarily rhyme with architecture or monuments. It is also an opportunity to discover craftsmanship. The craftsman market, organized by the Courants d’Arts Association, will take place on the Place des Charrons in Metz. Between 3,000 and 4,000 visitors are expected. Ceramicists, cane weavers, lamp and jewelry designers will be among the 28 craftsmen. Didier Foulon, a craftsman based in Ennery, is a lamp designer. He uses special, second-hand materials to create the design of his lamps. Morgane Ratton, for her part, is exhibiting everyday furniture. She uses rattan cane and caning to make them.
If you feel like concluding the European Heritage Days with music, you can go and listen to the concert given by Lilian Nawrot. This young singer from the region took part in season 13 of The Voice.
The performance will take place at the Saint-Martin church in Hayange, at 8:30 p.m. Lilian Nawrot will perform a selection of French songs.

With its heritage inherited from the Italian and Germanic periods, the Moselle capital is a jewel that its lovers will not fail to praise.
