Tourism: a record summer season for Morocco

According to the press release read by the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitasduring the press briefing held after the Council meeting, the record tourist arrivals have generated foreign exchange earnings approaching 59.4 billion dirhams during the first seven months of the year, an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period of 2023, which represents an increase of 2 billion dirhams. Furthermore, the minister affirmed that this exceptional performance had made it possible to reach a number tourist record having visited the Morocco in the first eight months of the year, with 11.8 million visitors, 1.6 million more than in the same period in 2023.

Returning to the details of these tourist performances, the minister affirmed in her presentation that they were part of the accelerated implementation of the “Tourist roadmap 2023-2026”launched by the government in March 2023. This program has made it possible to strengthen air connections and promotional efforts, thus increasing air transport capacity by 30% compared to 2023, the minister said.

Subsequently, the Council gave the green light to three draft decrees, the first of which concerns the quality and health security of the commercialized saucesthe second modifies and completes the decree approving the earthquake-resistant construction regulations (RPS 2000) applicable to buildings establishing the earthquake rules and establishing the National Committee for Earthquake Engineering, and the third completes the decree approving the earthquake-resistant construction regulations applicable to earthen buildings and establishing the National Committee for Earthquake Engineering of Earthen Buildings.
