Fribourg starts well by dominating Ajoie – rts.ch

Gottéron started the 2024/25 National League season with an expected victory against Ajoie (4-1). But the Fribourgeois team came up against an excellent Benjamin Conz for a long time: the Ajoulot goalkeeper was credited with 39 saves in this one-sided game.

Coach Pat Emond’s men dominated the game, and the statistics for shots on target attest to this: 43 in their favour, compared to only 14 for Ajoie. But the Fribourgeois lacked success and realism. The score was thus 1-1 after 50 minutes of play.

The Dragons were notably lacking in efficiency in power play, with only one success – the 1-0 scored by Julien Sprunger in the 28th – out of six opportunities in “power play”. Conversely, Ajoie took only 31 seconds to find the fault after Andreas Borgman had been awarded a 5′ penalty in the 40th.

This success by Oula Palve, which fell 19” from the second siren, did not however disturb Gottéron. The deliverance came from the stick of Jacob De La Rose (52nd, 2-1), who scored two seconds after the end of the sixth power play that his team benefited from. Nathan Marchon (55th) and Marcus Sörensen (60th, in the empty net) gave the score a more flattering appearance.
