A 29-year-old man who admitted to strangling his 26-year-old wife in Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) has been involuntarily hospitalized in a psychiatric facility.
A 29-year-old man who admitted to killing his 26-year-old wife in Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) was involuntarily hospitalized in a psychiatric establishment, on the decision of the State representative, AFP learned on Tuesday, September 17 from the Bobigny prosecutor’s office.
The accused was subject to “involuntary hospitalization on Monday evening at the request of a State representative,” the prosecution said, a medical certificate issued by the psychiatric emergency unit at Montfermeil hospital having concluded “that his state of health was incompatible with a measure of police custody.”
A couple not known to the judicial services
According to the prosecution, the “domestic homicide” took place on the night of Sunday to Monday in Rosny-sous-Bois, a dozen kilometers northeast of Paris. According to “initial information, this couple was not known to the judicial services,” the prosecution said on Monday.
On average, a femicide occurs every three days in France. According to the Ministry of Justice, there were 94 femicides in 2023, compared to 118 in 2022.
