Haute-Corse department placed on orange alert

According to Météo-, rainfall totals of around 80 to 100mm are expected until the end of the stormy episode which begins this Tuesday, September 17.

The Haute-Corse department has been placed on orange alert for storms and rain-flooding for this Tuesday, September 17 from 8 p.m. by Météo-France.

This orange alert must remain in effect until Wednesday 9 p.m. and is explained by a “rainstorm episode requiring special monitoring due to its intensity and duration.”

It is the result of the movement of storm Boris towards northern Italy, which caused 18 deaths in central and eastern Europe.

“In Haute-Corse, rains will begin this Tuesday afternoon, taking on a stormy character in the evening”, explains Météo-France, which expects “sustained hourly intensities, between 20 and 30mm per hour”.

According to the meteorological institute, these rains will continue at least until Wednesday evening. “The expected accumulations for the episode are of the order of 80 to 100mm generalized, with up to 150mm locally or even a little more,” adds Météo-France.
