Bern: A teenager attacked with a knife in the middle of the station

A major police intervention took place at Bern station around 11:45 a.m. Thursday. A woman was tackled to the ground by officers before being taken away. She is suspected of assaulting a teenage girl with a knife, according to witnesses. The Bernese cantonal police confirmed the facts. The victim and another woman who wanted to intervene were injured. Their lives are not in danger, say the authorities.

The alleged perpetrator was arrested and taken to the police station. The assaulted girl was admitted to hospital. The police are not yet able to provide additional information on the context of who led to this altercation. It is not known whether the perpetrator and the victim knew each other. Part of the station hall was cordoned off in the early afternoon. A dozen police officers and an ambulance were on the scene.
