It is known, a ton of festive events come to beautify the streets of Montreal during the summer. The pretty district of Verdun will be the next lucky one since Wellington Street will host a brand new festival in the coming days and it promises to be as cool as it is gourmet.
From July 21 to 23, 2023, the first edition of Verdun’s Japanese summer festival, Natsu Matsuri, will be held at the Komma Rosta café. On the program, artists from the culture of the land of the rising sun, local products and above all, a panoply of decadent food offers that will make you want to take a round trip between Montreal and Tokyo. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in Japan’s rich traditions and heritage without having to leave the island. Moreover, it can give you a taste of what awaits you if you have always dreamed of discovering this surprising country.
On site, you can attend traditional dances, do tea workshops and admire a collection of typical Japanese clothes such as yukatas (cotton summer kimono) and haoris (traditional jackets), as well as lots of little accessories. During such events, the Kimono Yuki company has indicated on its social networks that it usually allows customers to try on the clothes and even take pictures in them in the photoshoot area. So this could be your chance to dress up in those beautiful clothes.
On the food side, fans of Japanese food will be delighted since Komma Rosta will prepare Japanese specialties for the pleasure of your taste buds: “Of course, all our Japanese dishes will be served,” says the Montreal company on social networks. This small local cafe is particularly known for its Japanese curries, udon noodles, cold ramen and many versions of frozen lemonades.
If you wish to attend the event, it will take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. More details will come about the different activities offered.
