The National Executive Secretariat of the “Independent, Integral, Hardworking and Committed Nation” (Niite) party, during a meeting held yesterday in Thiès, for the purpose of analyzing the national political situation, condemned “the series of demonstrations in nature of violence of a rare gravity carried out in several localities against the buildings, equipment and public and private property of the country, after the deliberation of the Criminal Chamber condemning a leader of the political opposition, and which resulted in several deaths and hundreds of injured, with their negative consequences in many sectors of national economic and social life”. Also to denounce “the acts of destruction, ransacking and sabotage of services and offices of the representations of the diplomatic and consular missions of our country abroad, in particular in , , Milan and New York, which dealt a great blow like our country”.

Faced with the “heavy financial losses suffered by our country on the economic level, estimated at several billion CFA francs” and considering that “the basis of these demonstrations is far from being a democratic struggle for the defense of freedoms, but rather a will manifesto of subversive forces to attack the fundamentals of our Republic and our Nation”, the president of the Niite party, Moustapha Diop Djamil, to bow before “the memory of the victims”, also to firmly oppose “the use of any form of violence, wherever it may come from, as a means of settling political differences between different actors”. He is offended by “the organization of any large gathering or organization of a march at a time when national mourning should be decreed” and salutes “the spirit and the dynamic of dialogue engaging all the living forces of the Nation to achieve together to reach consensus on issues of national interest”.

The party “Independent, honest, hardworking and committed nation” calls on all Senegalese in economic, social, cultural, religious and political life, residing inside and outside the country, to “work to strengthen social cohesion , civil peace and democracy, essential conditions for sustainable development”. Also, Niite urges the government to “take all useful and regulatory measures to ensure the order and security of citizens and their property”.
