It was passers-by who were walking on the shore between Baie-des-Sables and Saint-Ulric who made the macabre discovery in the afternoon.

“Investigators and forensic identification technicians went on site to clarify the causes and circumstances of the death,” explains Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Experts have been carried out to confirm the identity of the man found. It is indeed Paul-Alexander Banko, the 41-year-old man from Longueuil who has been missing for two weeks.

The deceased’s vehicle was found near Notre-Dame-du-Portage on May 21. Five days later, the authorities were able to get their hands on his kayak, near Pointe-au-Père.
