Casablanca – Allergic diseases are increasing significantly around the world, said Thursday in Casablanca, the president of the Moroccan Association for Continuing Education in Allergology (AMAFORCAL), Younes Gueddari, noting that this increase is unfortunately not always accompanied by the promotion of the discipline and the Allergist.
Speaking at the 28th congress of Amaforcal, Mr. Gueddari indicated that “it is our duty to promote allergology and consequently our exercise”, he said, noting that the creation of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Health Sciences is an opportunity to integrate the allergology specialty into the patient care offer.
“The non-recognition of allergology as a specialty in its own right is a loss of opportunity for the patient”, he continued, noting that today, with the exponential development of allergies (their frequency doubles every 15 years), the allergist occupies a full place within medicine and fulfills a specific role in public health.
“In 2050, 50% of the world’s population will be allergic, no household will be spared, it’s a certainty, allergy is a global scourge, it’s a public health problem,” insisted Mr. Gueddari.
He also recalled that this year, Amaforcal is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its creation (April 12, 1993), emphasizing that over the past 30 years, Amaforcal and its executives have not stopped working on the scientific, fundamental and clinical upgrading of its members in the various fields of allergology.
Amaforcal has organized itself nationally and internationally to provide its members with scientific activities essential to professional development through continuing medical education in allergology, added Mr. Gueddari.
This three-day congress focuses on several themes including allergic diseases, personalized medicine in allergology and targeted therapies and mast cell activation syndromes.
