Be careful if you have to take the train in this January 27: due to the significant flooding experienced by the region and more particularly Ille-et-Vilaine, rail traffic is very disrupted.

Thus, no train runs between Rennes and Redon, due to a flood of the Vilaine near the town of Pléchatel (Ille-et-Vilaine). All regional trains this January 27 have been canceled “for 24 hours” reports SNCF.

Because the line passes through this same flooded portion from Rennes to Redon, “lTrain traffic is interrupted between Rennes and Quimper,” announces the SNCF. All TGVs from to Quimper display Rennes as an exceptional terminus and the stops at Redon, Vannes, Auray, Lorient and therefore Quimper are no longer served.

To reach the Finistère prefecture from Rennes, travelers will have to take a train to via Saint-Brieuc, then take a TER to Quimper. Traffic between Rennes and Brest, interrupted in the morning, has been restored: a first train is announced running at 12:33 departing from Rennes.

To reach Vannes from Rennes, only a coach connection via a connection at Saint-Brieuc remains possible. For other cities (Redon, Auray, Lorient), the SNCF does not offer an alternative.

The SNCF estimates a recovery planned for January 28 in the morning, “depending on the water level of the Vilaine“. For a time disrupted by the fall of a tree on the tracks between the stations of Les Lacs (Saint-Aubin-des-Landes) and Châteaubourg, TER traffic between Vitré and Rennes resumed mid-morning.
