Western Sahara: the Polisario Front condemns France’s bias in favor of Morocco’s expansionist policy

The Polisario Front called, on Sunday, the United Nations (UN) to assume its responsibilities regarding the decolonization of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, condemning ’s bias in favor of Morocco’s expansionist policy contrary to international legality.

In a press release sanctioning the meeting of its permanent bureau, chaired by the Secretary General of the Front, the Sahrawi President, Brahim Ghali, the Polisario Front “after having raised the question of natural resources and the legal battle, condemned the bias of France in favor of Moroccan expansionist policy, contrary to international legality”.

According to the Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS), the Polisario Front renewed its call on the European Union (EU) to fully comply with the judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), international law and to International Humanitarian Law concerning Western Sahara.

He also urged the UN to assume its responsibility for the decolonization of the last colony in Africa and to put pressure on Morocco to release the prisoners of the “Gdeim Izik” group and all civilian prisoners held in Moroccan jails.

In a speech delivered during the meeting, Brahim Ghali stressed “the need to demonstrate caution and vigilance in the face of the challenges and risks arising from the accelerated changes marking the regional and international scenes, particularly in view of Morocco’s persistent policies targeting the home front.

He also called for “more mobilization and preparation, as we begin the year of the 50th anniversary of national unity, which is why we must move forward on the path of the Chouhada, until the achievement of the goals of our people, namely freedom and independence.
