Saturday January 25, Valérie Bréthous, mayor of Port de Lanne, after thanking the presence of the president of the community of communes, neighboring mayors, the gendarmerie, deputies and councilors, associations and municipal services, presents her good wishes to the inhabitants of the village. Health, Happiness and Success are the key words of this ceremony: for a “serene and inspiring” year, with “values of Cohesion and Universalism”. A community to create links, and with the aim of supporting each other. She recalls the missions of a mayor, numerous and difficult, a demanding and exciting function, specifying “We do the best we can” in the face of all this. With the idea of living well in the town, the mayor then summarizes the work carried out in the town hall, in the canteen and in the kitchen, at the fronton and in the bakery. She also highlights the work done on the pipes at the port and on the lighting being replaced by LEDs. A thought for Jean Marquine, veteran and for Jean-Maurice Castets, former president of the Gascon association, both of whom died this year. The mayor then informs that the purchase of the Vieille Auberge, deliberated at the municipal council in August 2024, financially supported by the EPFL, is in the planning stage on what will be done. Following a free appeal carried out by a Port de Lannais collective, the municipal council firmly maintains this decision taken with full responsibility. The athletes of pelota, tennis and rugby are then rewarded for their great performances of the year, medals produced by the Gainerie d'art de Port de Lanne. Then Valérie Bréthous concludes “Thank you to my team who have followed me since 2020, despite the resignations” and “a thought to their family” because of their numerous implications for the life of the village. She invites the presidents of the different associations to come and introduce themselves before sharing a Friendship drink.
