Périgord is undoubtedly a popular destination for tourists. This welcome for visitors must now be considered using solutions that have less impact on the environment.

It is in this spirit that the Departmental Council organized, Monday January 13, the second edition of sustainable tourism meetings at the Joséphine Baker center in Périgueux. The idea of this conference was to think about sustainable solutions to make Pérgord still welcoming in the coming years.

Visit differently

“The idea for us was to start from the 900 km of hiking trails and our multiple plans such as the cycling plan or the nautical plan. Added to this are the stations and bus lines”explains Philippe Debet, facilitator in the tourism service of the Departmental Council. With “Dordogne without oil”, the Departmental Council offers 24 ideas for discovering Périgord without a car.

The tourism professionals present in the room were also invited to express themselves on what, according to them, is lacking in terms of tools or devices to improve the tourist offer in the Dordogne.

These suggestions were noted by the Department; In the future, they will be used to enrich existing information for tourists.
