10 years of self-sufficiency in rice for the populations of Sinthiang Ousmane thanks to Sodagri…

The populations of the village of Sinthiang Ousmane in the commune of Saré Bidji have been self-sufficient in rice for 10 years thanks to Sodagri. It was the populations themselves who made the declaration before the new DG Aboubacry Sidy Sonko visiting their valley as part of off-season rice cultivation, this Sunday, January 26. It is an opportunity seized by the latter to formulate grievances for the improvement of their living and working conditions. At the same time, the CEO considers that he is on a national tour to immerse himself in the conditions in which his collaborators and producers work.

According to the CEO, “the idea of the Anambé basin is to produce double crops, particularly rainfed and off-season. It is important to have the off-season to move towards food sovereignty. Moreover, I am reassured by the situation of this village which has been self-sufficient for 10 years both in rainfed rice and in the off-season. And that means they are ahead. This is why we should increase support for producers…”

Complaints were made by producers such as the increase in plots planted, in agricultural equipment and a market gardening area. In this sense, underlines Bilaly Baldé relay (Sodagri), “we need water control to further boost off-season rice cultivation. And these plots are the fruit of long-term work to achieve food self-sufficiency in rice. In this dynamic, we welcome the technical support of Sodagri for increasing yields to better fight against poverty despite the difficulties…”
