The department is on yellow alert for “strong wind” this Sunday, January 26, according to Météo-France. Strengthening in the morning, the south wind could reach 110 to 120 km/h after midday in mid-mountains, particularly at ski resorts. It could exceed 130 km/h on the most exposed ridges.

In the valleys, gusts could reach 90 to 110 km/h, even 120 km/h in places. In the foothills, the wind would blow between 60 and 70 km/h during the day and up to 90 km/h in certain areas.

The Ariège prefecture recommends extreme caution when traveling, particularly in the mountains. It is advisable to avoid wooded areas, not to park under trees or electrical poles, to secure objects exposed to the wind and to adapt your speed on roads and motorways, particularly for vehicles with a tow bar.
