A man attacked a customer at a supermarket in Apt (Vaucluse) with a knife on Saturday January 25 late in the afternoon. He was arrested and taken into police custody. During his attack, he shouted “Allah Akbar” said the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) at the Parisian.
The attacker was overpowered by a security guard, who managed to disarm him. The customer, who was stabbed and punched, was slightly injured, as was the security guard, reported Actu 17. Both victims were treated by firefighters and taken to hospital for treatment. For the moment, their vital prognosis is not engaged.
An open investigation
The assailant, a 32-year-old man, is already known to the police for around fifteen crimes, “in particular for criminal conspiracy”specified a police source to Le Parisien. He is registered with the FSPRT (reporting file for the prevention of terrorist radicalization) according to a source close to the case. The suspect would be monitored for his radicalization but also for his psychiatric profile.
-The PNAT opened an investigation for “attempted assassinations in connection with a terrorist enterprise” and “association of terrorist criminals with a view to crimes of personal injury”. “The investigations were entrusted to the anti-terrorist sub-directorate (SDAT), the zonal directorate of the national police (DZPN) South-East and the general directorate of internal security (DGSI)”explained the PNAT in a press release.
