The head of the Swiss army, Thomas Süssli, shares the concern of the Finance Delegation over seven army projects, singled out for significant problems and risks. “These projects all aim to strengthen the defense capacity of the army,” he notes.

(Keystone-ATS) This reinforcement is important, because the army’s equipment is currently “insufficient to demonstrate credibly that we are ready to defend the sovereignty of Switzerland”, specifies Mr. Süssli in an interview broadcast Monday by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

If seven projects are experiencing difficulties, most of the approximately 200 projects are going well, puts the corps commander into perspective. It identifies multiple problems, such as the complexity, sometimes underestimated, of projects, high demands as well as delivery problems.

The time it will take to set up war logistics is not yet known, adds Mr. Süssli.
