SENEGAL--RESULT / Ligue 1: Guédiawaye FC wins the suburban derby by beating AS Pikine (1-0) – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, Jan 26 (APS) – The Guédiawaye FC team beat (1-0) AS Pikine on Sunday at the Alassane Djigo stadium in the Dakar suburb derby in a late match counting for the 11th day of the Senegalese League 1.

In a packed stadium, the visitors surprised the locals. Following an error by Pikine’s defense, Patrick Basse opened the scoring for Guédiawaye FC in the 9th minute of play.

Galvanized by many supporters, the AS Pikine players pushed to equalize. They increased the attacks on the opposing camps.

But the defensive system put in place by the technical staff of Guédiawaye FC made it possible to stem the numerous attacks. The score will not change until the end.

Guédiawaye thus wins the suburban derby, beating his neighbor who occupies 14th place with only 11 points on the clock. Pikine’s team records its third defeat in a row.

Thanks to this victory, the Guédiawaye team takes sixth place in the ranking with 16 points.

On Saturday, Jaraaf de Dakar dominated (3-2) Tengueth FC in a late match counting for the 10th day of the League, plunging the reigning champion into a spiral of poor results.

Tengueth FC, who parted ways with his coach Sidath Sarr for insufficient results, has not yet found a remedy for his poor form since the start of the season.

This victory allows Jaraaf to revive and take third place with 19 points, eight lengths behind the leader US Gorée.

The Medina team could still collect other points since they have two games in hand to play against Casa Sports and Guédiawaye.
