Saturday, January 25, Valérie Bréthous, mayor of Port de Lanne, after thanking the presence of the president of the community of communes, the neighboring mayors, the gendarmerie, the assistants and advisers, associations and communal services, presents her good wishes to the inhabitants of the village. Health, happiness and success are the watchwords of this ceremony: for a “serene and inspiring” year, with “values of cohesion and universalism”. A municipality to create a link, and with the aim of supporting each other. It recalls the missions of a mayor, numerous and difficult, a demanding and exciting function, specifying “we do at best” in front of all this. In the idea of living well in the town, the mayor then summarizes the work carried out in the town hall, at the canteen and in the kitchen, on pediment and at the bakery. It also underlines the work done on the pipes at the port and on the lighting under replacement by LEDs. A thought for Jean Marquine, veteran and for Jean-Maurice Castets former president of the Gascons Association, both deceased this year. The mayor then informs that the purchase of the old inn, deliberated on the municipal council in August 2024, carried financially by the EPFL, is in the state of project on what will be done. Following a graceful appeal made by a Port de Lannais collective, the municipal council firmly maintains this decision taken in complete responsibility. The sportsmen of the ball, tennis and rugby are then rewarded for their great performances of the year, medals made by the Port de Lanne art sheath. Then Valérie Bréthous concludes “thank you to my team that has followed me since 2020, despite the resignations” and “a thought to their family” because of their many implications for the life of the village. It offers presidents of the various associations to come to an improvised way to present themselves before sharing the glass of friendship.
