Morocco, which will host the next edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN-2025), has always proven its ability to organize world-class competitions, assures the African Football Confederation (CAF).
“The choice of Morocco as host country of CAN-2025 is not a surprise, given its proven experience in organizing international football competitions”writes CAF in a press release published on its official website, recalling, in this sense, the success of the Kingdom in organizing the African Nations Championship for local players (CHAN-2018), the 2022 women’s CAN and the World Cup of FIFA Clubs 2023.
“Thanks to international-level infrastructure, a passionate public and recognized experience in hosting major sporting events, Morocco is ready to organize a CAN which will redefine the standards of this competition”we read in the press release, stressing that the announcement of the choice of Morocco as host country of CAN-2025 on September 27, 2023 was welcomed with « enthusiasm ».
After recalling that Morocco had organized the African Cup of Nations for the first time in 1988, with the participation of eight teams, CAF highlights the significant expansion of the 2025 edition which will see the participation of 24 teams, testifying to the impressive development of African football over the last three decades.
-The African Football Confederation also reviewed the large-scale sports facilities available to the Kingdom, such as the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, and the major stadiums in Tangier, Agadir and Marrakech. in addition to the Fez sports complex.
The competition is scheduled to kick off on December 21, 2025, while the final will take place on January 18, 2026.
