Two students from the Bernese Jura qualified for the national final of the Science and Youth competition

The Bernese Jura will send two representatives to the final of the Science and Youth competition, which will take place in April in Lausanne. Saturday, during the French-speaking semi-final which brought together 37 participants in Lausanne, Giulia Cocciantelli, from Moutier and Elie Willemin, from Prêles, both students at the French Gymnasium in Bienne, managed to qualify for the final phase of the event, alongside 25 other young people.
In the history/geography category, Provost resident Giulia Cocciantelli managed to convince the jury with her work on the involvement of young people from Moutier in politics. As for Elie Willemin, he was able to meet the requirements of the physical/technical category, with his project for a meteorological station powered by wind energy.
“To reach the final, the key criteria were scientific work, an obvious personal contribution, innovative character, a rigorous methodological approach, in-depth reflection and a convincing presentation,” specify the organizers.
The grand finale will be held from April 24 to 26, 2025 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. The finalists from German-speaking Switzerland and Ticino were selected during semi-finals organized in Lugano (January 11) and Bern (January 18).
