Mason Greenwood, one of the major recruits for Olympique de Marseille this summer, continues to establish himself as a centerpiece of the Marseille squad. In an interview given to Téléfootthe England international shared his long-term ambitions with OM, while suggesting that he would not be against the arrival of Paul Pogba in Marseille.
Greenwood wants to stay in Marseille for the long term
After six successful months under the Marseille colors, Mason Greenwood won over the supporters and attracted the attention of major European clubs. However, the 23-year-old striker expressed his desire to stay in Marseille for the long term. “I see myself staying at OM for many years. This is something I would really like to do. I want to win trophies here and play in the Champions League. Being here is a big ambition for me,” he confided. A statement which should reassure Marseille supporters, worried about seeing their nugget leave too soon.
A call to Pogba to join OM
During this interview, Greenwood also raised the possibility of seeing Paul Pogba, his former teammate at Manchester United, arriving in Marseille. “Pogba is an exceptional player and a fantastic person. He was very supportive of me in Manchester. If he came here it would be incredible. Any team would like to have a player like him,” he said. For now, Pogba remains linked to Juventus, but Greenwood's enthusiasm reflects the growing ambition of OM, who dream of building a team capable of competing with the European leaders.
