The construction site of the future section of the ViaRhôna between Bellegarde et Saint-Gilles (Gard) will begin.
The chosen route extends over 15.4 kilometers. The cost of this work amounts to 4.66 million euros.
Several months of work
This project called ViaRhônais a European development program.
Its final objective is to connect, through gentle modes of travel including the bikeLake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea. The total route selected extends in total over 815 km.
In the Gard, 110 km must be developed in successive sections. The next project should allow lovers of the little queen to easily connect the port of Bellegarde and the pont d'Espeyran has Saint-Gilles (Gard).
This route should be accessible to the public at the start of summer 2025.
-Third segment
The work undertaken between the two Gard towns constitutes the third step of the realization of this long European cycle route ViaRhôna in Gard.
In this department, the first section has been usable since spring 2022. It connects the municipalities of Beaucaire has Bellegarde. It extends over a dozen kilometers. The second section connecting Beaucaire has Furnaceslong de 15 kilometersit has been inaugurated since June 2023.
