The searches led by the DGST special units, in coordination with the BCIJ officers, and in cooperation with the air units and the judicial center of the royal gendarmerie, led to the arrest of four extremist individuals, including three brothers, Linked to the Daesh terrorist group, said a press release from the BCIJ. These individuals, aged 26, 29, 31 and 35, operated in the Had Soualem region, in the province of Berrechid.
This operation took place in two separate sites: two residences located respectively in the Al Omrane subdivision and the Oulad Jamaâ area in Had Soualem. Interventions have mobilized specialized teams, including experts in detection of explosives, a cynotechnical unit equipped with dogs specializing in the detection of explosive devices, as well as a royal gendarmerie helicopter transporting special forces elite shooters of the DGST.
The searches carried out on site allowed the entry of an arsenal of disturbing equipment, including white weapons of different sizes, bottles containing liquids and chemical powders, bags filled with chemical fertilizers, sulfur, coal powder , as well as various salts and suspicious substances. Investigators also found electric wires, welding equipment and adhesive tapes, suspected of being intended for the manufacture of explosives. These objects were immediately given to experts from the scientific and technical police for in -depth analyzes.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had recently disseminated a video in which they lent allegiance to Daesh and announced their intention to commit imminent terrorist attacks. Investigations have also shown that they had bought, in a single day, raw materials in four separate hardware stores located in the Had Soualem region. These products, used in the manufacture of explosives, were stored in one of the members of the cell, where they carried out preparatory experiments.
Two of the suspects, members of a siblings, had also carried out tracking in several strategic places, taking videos and photos of potential targets at various times.
-The information collected confirmed that this cell planned devastating attacks using explosives, with the intention of joining Daesh camps located in the unstable region of the Sahel.
The four individuals arrested were placed in police custody under the supervision of the prosecution responsible for terrorism affairs. The survey conducted by the BCIJ aims to establish all the potential connections of this cell with terrorist organizations, both regional and international, as well as to identify and challenge any person involved in this plot.
