Picardy Wallonia under water: flooded fields, overflowing rivers and impassable roads

The Sennette and the Charleroi-Brussels Canal have left the flood alert phase to return to pre-alert. The overnight precipitation (5-10 l/m2) has in fact hampered the decline and the flow rates remain in places above the pre-alert threshold, explains the Walloon administration. This phase is therefore maintained until the situation is normalized again.

Same case for the Senne and its tributaries, which have been downgraded to the pre-alert phase for at least the whole day.

A similar status for several rivers

For the tributaries of the Bass Sambre and the Basse Sambre itself, the flows have thus crossed the pre-alert thresholds, with localized overflows that are not serious. This should be the case at least until late Sunday afternoon.

Regarding the tributaries of the Upper Meusethe situation is similar for Bocq and Molignée because of overnight precipitation (15-20 l/m2) and flows there should remain above the pre-alert thresholds until late Sunday afternoon. Concerning Houille, this could be the case from midday.

On the side of the tributaries of the Haute Sambre and the Haute Sambre, the flows are stable and remain above the pre-alert thresholds. This should continue for the next 24 hours.

For theWater of the Hour and its tributaries, flows are increasing again due to overnight precipitation (15-18 l/m2) and should reach their peak around midday. They could even sometimes approach the alert thresholds locally.

Flow rates are also increasing in the Viroin basin and its tributaries due to overnight rains (around 15 l/m2) and have crossed the pre-alert thresholds, which they should remain above until this Sunday evening.

Finally, the Should and its tributaries have also entered the flood pre-alert phase due to precipitation in the last few hours (10-15 l/m2). As the forecasts currently stand, flows should remain above the threshold until late Sunday afternoon.

Caution is therefore recommended around these various watercourses, insists the Walloon administration.
