“Strong gale”

“The Herminia depression will bring a strong gale this Sunday, January 26, 2025 from Finistère to Côtes d'Armor. Sunday morning, the wind could cause gusts of 100 to 110 km/h inland and up to 120 to 130 km/h on exposed coasts”, warns the Finistère prefecture.

But the southern half is not left out and also risks suffering a “strong gust of wind”. Thus, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Hautes-Pyrénées are also on orange alert for wind-related risks. Gusts which will go as far as Ariège, Haute-Garonne and the Pyrénées-Orientales, in , colored in yellow for the moment.

The forecast site invites you to monitor the evolution of the situation: “The southerly wind gradually strengthens on Sunday morning, reaching stormy gusts of 110 to 120 km/h at midday in mid-mountains (at the ski resorts) as well as locally in valleys ('surging' phenomenon). ). These gusts can exceed 150 km/h on certain exposed ridges or passes.”

The storm will continue tonight

Until Monday, it will be advisable to be careful in the face of these gusts. The entire Atlantic coast is placed on yellow wave-submersion alert from this evening and all night from Sunday to Monday.

Tomorrow, six departments will be on orange alert, once again on the Brittany and Pyrenees side. There will also be 67 departments on yellow alert, still for wind-related risks.
