Neither Canada nor the United States was able to score in the first half of their last group match, but Piper Logan finally found the breach in the ninth minute. By scoring a melee, Logan reached 100 career points in the SVNS Series, giving the Canadians of the Americans the advantage.
Logan added another trial in the 12th minute, but the United States reacted shortly after to reduce the gap. Carissa Norsten confirmed Canada’s victory at the last minute, receiving a pass from Carmen Izyk and postponing American defenders to go and score. Olivia Apps transformed the three Canadian trials, giving Canada the victory 21 to 7 and the first place in Pool B.
Canada faced Brazil in the quarter -finals. Mahalia Robinson opened the scoring for Canada two minutes after kick-off, diving into the in-goal to mark a test. Asia Hogan-Crosses received a pass off Logan in the fourth minute to flatten and increase Canada’s advance.
The Brazilians scored their first points a few moments later to bring the scoring to 10 to 5 for the Canadian women, Apps marking off the last minute of the first half to give Canada an advance of 15 to 5 at the break .
-In the second half, Florence Symonds marked her first try from the tournament and Izyk played the Brazilian defense to go and flatten under the posts, her test being transformed by Hogan-Croconster. Thanks to this victory 27 to 5, Canada qualified for the semi-finals, thus guaranteeing the best result of the season in Perth.
The VII rugby women’s team in Canada will face Australian hosts in the quarter -final at 0 h 11 hnp / 3 h 11 hne (January 26). You can watch all matches on TSN+.
