The suspect in the murder of Maëva Gazé and Martin Delamare, found dead Thursday January 23, 2025 in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains, between Deauville and Pont-l'Évêque () was arrested on the night of Friday January 24 to Saturday January 25 2025 in Pas-de-. “I confirm his arrest last night in Pas-de-Calais,” Joël Garrigue, the public prosecutor, told AFP.

It was during a road check that his run, which began on Wednesday January 22, 2025, ended. Faced with the police, the man, aged around thirty, refused to comply before fleeing and being run off the road. Injured, he was taken to hospital.

“Potentially dangerous”

The suspect in the double homicide “resides in the town of Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains and would have been in contact with the victims during the day of January 22,” explained the Caen public prosecutor on Friday. He was the subject of “a search warrant from the investigating judge” and was presented as “potentially armed and dangerous”.

Martin Delamare's autopsy confirmed that he had head trauma and traces of violent blows to the face. “It is also confirmed that this young man was the victim of a gunshot,” Joël Garrigue said the day before.
