Dakar, 24 January (APS) – The Maison de la Presse (MP) organized a cleaning day on Friday to remove garbage from the interior and exterior spaces of this public building dedicated to journalists and communications technicians, noted the APS.

”For us it is about having a healthy body, in an environment that is also conducive. The Babacar Touré Press House is a large family which today really needs to be cleaned, because it is frequented by several personalities (…)’, declared its general director, Sambou Biagui, during the launch of the activities of »set-setal».

“The MP will continue to take such initiatives to make its working and environmental environment clean and conducive,” he added, in the presence of MP agents, the Senegalese Press Agency (APS) and residents. from the Medina, who came to join this initiative.

Sambou Biagui invited the population of the Medina to take ownership of this “set-setal” day. “And this is what the neighborhood chief did, by deploying human and material resources to support us on this day,” he declared.

He called for a strengthening of the “partnership” between the MP and the populations of Medina, a commune in Dakar where the Press House is located.

The administrative and financial director of the SN-APS, Mariama Oury Kindy Diallo, welcomed this “important” activity which allows us to clean up and maintain the working environment and the environment in which agents operate. of MP and APS.

”It’s an activity that allows us to come together on the essentials. It symbolizes the perfect understanding and good coexistence between the APS and the MP,” she believes.

For his part, the head of the Abattoir district of the commune of Medina, Mahmoudane Fall, is committed to always supporting the Maison de la presse in this type of initiative aimed at maintaining a clean framework.

This “set-setal” day is placed under the theme ”a healthy body in a healthy environment”. It is part of the national “sétal sunu rééw” day, a monthly initiative by the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, launched in June 2024, to involve communities in taking care of their living environment.
