Convicted of luring and producing child pornography | “I lose my whole afternoon”

Even Binet, 41, was sentenced Thursday to a total of 23 months in prison in connection with charges of luring, production of child pornography and breach of prescription.

Arrested as part of a national operation against child pornography in January 2023, the man from Saint-Côme-Linière had exchanged on different online platforms with an undercover agent of the Sûreté du Québec.

During these exchanges, Binet made a series of sexually explicit comments in addition to asking what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl if she was the only one to have access to these platforms, since he did not want “ get caught.”

Still during these exchanges, which took place in 2022, Even Binet also expressed an interest in the 10-year-old sister of the fake young girl. He also suggested that his interlocutor take photos and videos of a sexual nature.

In March 2023, while on conditional release, the accused was seen alone in the presence of a three-year-old girl even though he was prohibited from being in the presence of minors, with the exception of his son.

In a response to a question from Judge Thomas Jacques when specifying the conditions of the three probation period which will follow his prison sentence, Binet indicated that the sentence rendered Thursday made him “lose all (sic)».

In addition to his prison sentence and a multitude of conditions to be respected for several years, the offender will also be placed on the sex offender register for a period of 20 years.
