Sunset lovers know the spot well! On the heights, Bad luck David is a perfect observatory to admire Toulouse. So to arrange this place, a call for projects was launched in the fall of 2024 for paint a new fresco on the water tower of the place. This Friday, January 24, 2025, is the last day to vote for your favorite project. Here are the three proposals that remain in the running.
Space planning
Since 2021, the site of the observatory of Pech David is in the middle of redevelopment. After the creation of sports and relaxation areas, and a tavern in summer, it is now the turn of water tower to be transformed. And all in an artistic and lasting way with the production of a fresco !
In the fall of 2024, a call for projects was launched to Toulouse residents so that they could present their ideas. “The admissible applications were examined by a selection committee made up of City elected officials and representatives of municipal services. This Committee met to select three projects », Explains the town hall. They all revolve around water and nature.
1ᵉʳ project: “From Nature to the Cosmos, a work between two worlds”
Created by WOIZO, an artist from Toulouse, and Stéphane Vignal, an artist from Seine-et-Marne, this project proposal highlights the relationships between heaven and earth.An appropriate meaning for this observatory.
We note several elements such as number 31, the flora, but also the stars on the left.
-“The work invites us to see the Sky as a mirror of Nature and to explore harmony
between constellations, vegetation and urban heritage,” explains the town hall.
2nd project: “The wonders of the observatory”
In this work, Guillaumit and Soia, artists from Toulouse, offer something very colorful. The fresco here is inspired by the neighborhoodwith the equestrian center, park vegetationbut also by the city with aeronautics.
3rd project: “The aquatic ballet”
For the latest project, Joram Roukes, an artist from the Netherlands, highlights the Pech David ecosystemthrough the representation of frogs.
“Water, an essential element of the site, is symbolized by these amphibians, ambassadors
of harmony between earth and water. The bright, contrasting colors bring a playful and joyful dimension, reinforcing the idea of celebration and sharing,” explains the town hall.
