Situation

A disturbance fueled by mild, humid air is stationed permanently over our northwest regions. It brings sustained rains until the middle of the night from Friday to Saturday. Subsequently, the rains become less frequent with a lull during the day on Saturday, before further rains are expected on Sunday.

Observation

This Friday at the end of the day, precipitation continued in the northwest with cumulative rainfall reaching 42 mm in Brennilis (Finistère), 40 mm in Saint-Cornier-es-Landes (Orne), 39 mm in Coulouvray-Boisbenâtre (Manche), 34 mm in Vire (), 32 mm in .

Evolution

Tonight and into the middle of the nightthe rains remain sustained between the south of , the and Lower . Additional rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm are expected between the evening and the middle of the night.

Over the entire rainy episode, the expected rainfall accumulations are on average 30 to 40 mm but they can locally reach 50 mm, which is equivalent to 15 days of precipitation. These rains occur when the soils are saturated and no longer infiltrate. Rivers therefore react to this new rain with flooding and a risk of overflowing and flooding.
