The Piennes walking club made a spectacular leap in 2024, from 46 to 126 members in less than a year. A success that is explained by a new more inclusive and dynamic approach. “We have empowered the walkers and created a real team spirit. Today, they are not only walking, they participate in the life of the club, ”explains Robert Madonia, club president.

Federate beyond the town

This success goes far beyond Piennes. Walkers of neighboring municipalities, such as Briey, Audun-le-Roman or Tin, joined the ranks, making the group even more alive. “Everyone offers steps of steps in their sector, and it creates beautiful energy. On Thursday, we often walk outside thanks to these suggestions ”.

A dynamism that we find during flagship events such as the Pie-Lan-Jou, the novelty 2024 which brought together 300 participants. “A fourth commune will perhaps itself be granted the event: Mont-Bonvillers”, welcomes the president, who already announces the next meeting on 1is June. In December, the Saint-Nicolas march attracted 350 participants thanks to the flawless mobilization of 40 volunteers.

Marking of new trails

Another major asset of the club is its ability to work with local authorities and associations. In 2024, thanks to a collaboration with the Community of Communes Coeur de Pays Haut, several trails were marked: a 10 km circuit connecting Serrouville in Errouville, a 7 km course around the ponds of Piennes, and a 1 km loop Suitable for small walkers near the college of Audun. “We want to connect a maximum of villages to be able to walk between the municipalities without going through the road”.

With already 80 registered in 2025, the club starts hard. Between the next Pie-Lan-Jou, which will be held this time in Jourdreville, and new marking projects, the president is confident: “We hope to exceed 100 members this year, and rally new municipalities by walking circuits” .
