Kédougou, Jan 23 (APS) – A Senegalese-Malian couple was arrested on January 20 in the village of Baitilaye, in the Kédougou region, for possession of 1,440 psychotropic tablets (tramaking and tapentaking) and 90 horns of Indian hemp, APS learned on Thursday from a security source.
The regional brigade of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) of Kédougou reports that a “large quantity of 1,340 tablets considered to be psychotropic substances was seized on October 10 in the village of Taifa in Diakha which belonged to the Senegalese Malian couple.
During this first operation, the couple fled before being located in the village of Baitilaye where they were finally arrested on January 20.
OCRTIS said it had seized 100 other tablets, for a total of 1,440 psychotropic tablets, as well as 90 horns of Indian hemp.
According to the same source, the arrest of this couple is part of security operations and the fight against banditry in the south-eastern region of Senegal.
-She reports that this couple carried out their “criminal activities” in the gold panning sites of Taifa and Baitilaye, in the commune of Bandafassi.
The two defendants who sold prohibited products to gold miners and sex workers were thus referred to the prosecution of the Kédougou High Court.
