Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 multiplies impressive sequences in an ultra-rich universe
Since its announcement at the Xbox conference in summer 2024, we can say that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 remains in our sights for games to follow in 2025. Developed by the young French studio Sandfall Interactive, the game tells the story of a Painter who wakes up to paint a cursed number on her monolith, leading people of that age into oblivion.
Described as a turn-based role-playing game inspired by the sumptuous art and culture of Belle Époque France, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 places us in the shoes of Gustave and his expedition companions, courageous and determined souls to put an end to the Painter's reign of death. This will be an opportunity to meet deadly adversaries, but also powerful allies in this title which will offer a lifespan of around thirty hours.
The new gameplay video presented during the Xbox Developer Direct once again emphasizes the importance of combat in the game, and we must admit that the artistic direction and gameplay of the title are still as appealing as ever.
Indeed, the French clearly wanted to dust off the genre with an original universe, unique (and sometimes really strange) characters, as well as the integration of real-time elements (dodge and parry) within the turn-based combat. .
