The reigning African champions find themselves on the shortlist of the best beach Soccer players in the world. Named in three categories for the Beach Soccer Stars 2024, Senegal has 6 representatives for this edition.
The world’s best players in this discipline will be rewarded during Beach Soccer 2024, which is fast approaching. A shortlist of 120 male players, 50 female players and 45 coaches has been published by BSWW to reward the best athletes in the discipline. Senegal, which won the last African Cup ahead of Mauritania, has 6 nominees in three categories.
Best player: 4 nominees
Four of the Sand Lions appear in the best player category. They are Raoul Mendy, Jean Ninou Diatta, Mamadou Sylla and Seydina Mandione Diagne. As a reminder, Raoul Mendy remains until now the only Senegalese player to have won a trophy at Beach Soccer Stars: revelation of the year 2021.
Best goalkeeper: Al Seyni Ndiaye nominated
-Captain of the national team and who has played 180 games for the national team, Al Seyni Ndiaye has been one of the nominees since 2017. He is also the only Senegalese goalkeeper selected. In 2021, Al Seyni was in the top 3 best goalkeepers in the world.
Best coach: Ngalla Sylla nominated
The coach of the national beach soccer team, Omar Sylla, has joined the short list of the best coaches nominated for the annual “Beach Soccer Stars 2024” gala. The one who led Senegal to its 8th continental coronation last October is one of the 45 coaches nominated for the title of best coach. Used to being nominated for this position, he was in the top 12 in 2021.
