The mayor of Chaulieu (Manche) first returned to work carried out in 2024with interventions on the roads and housing of the village hall, but also the purchase of a computer and a defibrillator for the town hall. The addressing was finalized at a cost of €9,957, without installing the panels.
“We have ensured that each nomination has meaning with the history of the municipality. We received two grants, one from the department in the amount of €4,978 (DETR) and the other from the urban community, in the amount of €2,489, under the Rural Communes Solidarity Fund , which represents a total aid of 75%,” explained the mayor.
Pour 2025, six stained glass windows of the Saint-Martin church will be replaced. Five columbariums, five caverns and a garden of memory will be placed in the cemetery. A pétanque court is also planned.
-The town noted for its silage festival
Loïc Desdoits took this opportunity to thank the associations: veterans, hunters, the Moto Club, but also the festival committee and the hundred volunteers who made the silage festival a great success. “This success means that we are invited to show our know-how at the largest open-air gathering in Europe, Terre de Jim, which will take place from September 12 to 14 in Seine-Maritime,” rejoiced the mayor.
Two Chaulieusians congratulated
Then, Loïc Desdoits honored two residents for their involvement in the life of the town: Thierry Jaquinot, who has lived in Chaulieu for less than three years and Roger Lelogeais. Thierry Jaquinot regularly helps maintain the cemetery and provides meals for veterans during the November 11 ceremonies.
Roger Lelogeais, for his part, took care of the Canton Tour with a lot of passion. He is also a coypu hunter and trapper. Coypu carry disease and repopulate very quickly, so it is important to regulate their proliferation. “Despite his age, Roger is there very early in the morning to set his traps, and we thank him for that,” said Loïc Desdoits. Everyone received a garnished basket as a sign of recognition. Then, the whole population was invited to a friendly drink.
