A delegation from the European Union, accompanied by representatives from 13 countries and ONEE, visited the Sidi Allal Tazi liquid sanitation project, carried out thanks to a partnership between Morocco and several international donors. This project is part of the national water resources management strategy and aims to improve the living conditions of local populations.

Funded to the tune of 21.6 million dirhams, this project has a treatment capacity of 1,230 m³ of wastewater per day, serving more than 17,000 residents. It includes secondary treatment by aerated lagoon, guaranteeing sustainable and efficient management of wastewater in the region.

During the visit, the EU ambassador, as well as representatives of and Germany, underlined the importance of Moroccan-European cooperation in the fight against water stress and adaptation to change climatic. This project reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable environmental solutions, as part of the green partnership signed in 2022 with the EU.

The Director General of ONEE recalled that this initiative is part of the National Liquid Sanitation Program (PNAM), which has already made it possible to provide this service to more than 2.7 million Moroccans. This visit marks a new stage in strengthening synergies between Morocco and the EU for optimized management of water resources.
