During this period of the austral summer, areas of activity regularly attract the attention of meteorologists. Since the start of the week, the evolution of two points (one in the Mozambique Channel, the other in the East-North-East of the Mascarenes.) have been placed under close surveillance.

Logically, during this period of intense convection linked to the austral summer, disturbed areas are constantly forming and disappearing. The work of Météo- La Réunion specialists is to study the different parameters of these suspect areas to assess a potential risk for inhabited lands.

This Thursday, January 23, 2025, meteorologists take stock of these “hot” spots located in the Mozambique Channel for the closest and to the East-North-East of the Mascarenes for the furthest.

The risk of the formation of a possible storm is 30 to 60% from Sunday for the distant cloud cluster and less than 30% for the anomaly observed to the west of Madagascar.

These projections will become forecasts from Saturday, for the monitored area to the west of and from Sunday January 26, 2025 for the second.
